Alex: "This is taking forever!"

Me: "I know. The bank is busy today."

Alex, pointing at the teller: "What is that girl's name?"

Me: "Ummmm, I don't know."

Alex: "I do! It's LAZY BONES!"

Emily: "Dad! I just want to be a teacher...not a genius!"

Natalie: "Mom, why do those teenagers always hang around that picnic table?"

Me: "I don't know, maybe they're homeless." (I was kidding)

Natalie: Laughing, "Yeah! Maybe they are hobos!"

Kurt: "No, they're not hobos, they're bums."

Todd: "Dad, what's a bum?"

Kurt: "Someone who doesn't have a job and just sits around all day."

A moment of silence

Todd: With the wheels in his head turning, "Hey, Mom! You don't have a job...You're a BUTT!"

Todd: "Oh, I thought that if they did you could ask Santa for a new VCR. Wait...I know! I will ask him for one and just give it to you!"

I promise, this is not the Alex blog...BUT...

From the very beginning, Alex has marched to the tune of his own drummer. :)

He looks more like Kurt than the other kids, he has a huge mop of wild hair, he has more teeth now than any of our kids had at 18 months...he just continues to do things his own way rather than following in his siblings footsteps...(pun totally intended)

Take this for example...

Alex started walking on October 11, 2007. He pulled himself up on the wall in the family room and Kurt said "Hey Alex, walk over here!" AND HE DID!!! He took about four steps and then fell. He's just gone crazy from there and now he's wobbling all over the house.

I took these pictures on Thursday the 18th, one week after Alex took his first steps. It's amazing what kind of skills a little monkey can perfect in a week. The best part is that every time he'd walk and then fall, we'd clap and say "Yay!"...so now whenever he turfs it, he claps for himself. :)

Time for me take babyproofing to the next level...Alex's "stand up level".
